Whether you write blogs, comment on blogs, or read blogs, it is more important than ever to appreciate the impact blogs can have on your business, nonprofit organizaiton, association, or government agency.

You can monitor blogs to understand how people may feel about your company.  You can clarify or correct misinformation by posting comments.  And you can build trust in your organization by building your own blog.

eMarketer reports that as of April 2009, 96.6 million US Internet users read a blog at least once per month, representing 48.5% of the Internet population.

In 2009, 27.9 million US Internet users have a blog they update at least once per month, representing 14% of the Internet population.

“Blogs are now mainstream media,” said Richard Jalichandra, CEO of Technorati. “You’re also seeing mainstream media coming in the other direction by adding blog content.”
