Here’s a thought: the social media space is not a living room. It is the office of your best client. Keep this in mind when creating or sharing online content, even on your personal online profile. Ask yourself
• Is this content I would want to read or view if someone else posted it?
• Does this reinforce my company’s brand image?
• Is this relevant, timely, informative, supportive, and useful?
• Is the tone friendly? Entertaining? Would anyone be offended?
When in doubt, leave it out. Or wait a day, and ask a friend. Especially for Twitter posts, or “tweets,” as they are commonly known. More than one communicator has been burned!
