Fletcher Prince salutes American workers (VIDEO)

Happy Labor Day! We join the nation in saluting American workers and their vital contributions to our communities and our nation’s economy.

Today, we also remember the sacrifices made in the past by others for the rights we enjoy today.  It is important to remember that benefits we sometimes take for granted — such as minimum wage, a safe work environment, non-discrimination, and protection for under-age employees, to name a few — were hard-fought and hard-won, sometimes at the cost of people’s lives.  Lest we forget!

As we salute American workers, Fletcher Prince calls on businesses and nonprofit organizations to pay a fair market wage or salary to their employees, including interns.  It’s the right thing to do, and it’s the law.

We want to share this Labor Day 2010 YouTube video from Secretary Solis who shares what the Department of Labor is doing to get America back to work. Visit http://www.dol.gov/laborday for more, including a history of Labor Day.

It is a beautiful day in our nation’s capital.  We have all worked hard in this challenging economy, and it is a good time to reflect on our achievements and dreams.  I hope you have the chance to relax and spend some time with people you care about today.  Enjoy your day and thanks for following Fletcher Prince on Facebook.
