Looking Back at 2013: The Fletcher Prince Annual Report

Every year, since I started this business, I write and publish an “annual report” for Fletcher Prince.  When I look back, I realize David and I accomplished a lot.   So here it is, our annual report: a great way to end the year on a positive note.

Fletcher Prince celebrates its sixth year in business. 2013 marked another year of delivering marketing and public relations services to clients and contractors, as well as community involvement, collaboration, and networking.

Social media services and graphic design services were major project areas for us this year.

We worked with our existing clients Dominion Mechanical Construction, Keenan PR, and PRofessional Solutions, LLC. We also provided social media guidance to new clients Communications Ventures and Spark Media as well as graphic design services to Mopwater PR.  Some of our interesting projects in 2013 included working on a 20th anniversary marketing campaign for PRofessional Solutions, LLC and creating a multi-million dollar client-garnering sales presentation for Dominion Mechanical Construction.

Conversations in Public Relations

As a service to the Washington, DC area professional communications community, Fletcher Prince continues to produce videos for the YouTube seriesConversations in Public Relations,” featuring interviews with local communicators and association leaders. The 113 videos have received more than 79,000 views on YouTube.

Social Media Week DC

Fletcher Prince was the first public relations agency in the Washington, DC area to offer sessions for Social Media Week DC, and we resumed our commitment to the area-wide event for the second year in mid-February 2013. With the addition of guest podcasting expert and friend Ray Ortega of The Podcasters’ Studio, we presented two free seminars in Falls Church to a packed room, one on getting started with podcasting and the other on blogging about your favorite interests. Network-and-Lunch Events

We continued to offer Network-and-Lunch events around the DC area, periodically.  Special thanks go to Connie Rhind Robey and Leah Ibraheem for their ongoing support and organizing contributions!  Make plans to attend our next event at Chef Geoff’s in Tysons Corner on Tuesday, January 28.

Fletcher Prince Marketing Efforts in 2013

We continue to be grateful to our supporters. Our Facebook Page Likes increased by seven and we gained 41 new Twitter followers.  We also added our Social Media Week video presentations to our YouTube account.

The Fletcher Prince Blog is a labor of love and a big part of how we share our expertise and showcase our work. We surpassed 700 total blog posts in 2013.  Despite our decreased blogging volume of only 38 new blog posts in 2013, we earned nearly 23,000 views in 2013, bringing our total views to just over 94,000.  Our sincere thanks to guest bloggers Deborah Brody, Karen Hendricks, and Jay Morris for their contributions in 2013.

In Other News…

I attended the 2013 Washington PR Woman of the Year Awards as the guest of Fletcher Prince clients Kate Perrin and Melanie Jordan of PRofessional Solutions, LLC.  I am so grateful to Kate and Melanie for their year-long support and friendship. Fletcher Prince had an ad in the program for the event.

Looking Back at 2012 — The Fletcher Prince Annual Report

Fletcher Prince celebrates its fifth year in business.  2012 was a year of delivering marketing and public relations services to clients and contractors, as well as community involvement.

Social media services, video production, and photography services were major project areas for us this year.

We worked with our existing clients Dominion MechanicalPRofessional Solutions, Keenan PR, and Remey Communications.  Projects included video production, graphic design, and photography.  We were also delighted to provide social media consulting services to new clients American Chemical Society and Atwater Communications.

Pro Bono Work

David and I completed extensive pro bono work for two organizations involved in promoting the cause of human rights in Bahrain.  Our work for them included providing public relations and social media services, graphic design, logo design, blog development, and special event support.

Community Involvement and Service

Conversations in Public Relations

As a service to the Washington, DC area professional communications community, Fletcher Prince continues to produce videos for the YouTube seriesConversations in Public Relations,” featuring interviews with local communicators and association leaders.  We produced 3 additional videos in 2012.  The 110 videos have received more than 61,200 views on YouTube.

Social Media Week DC

Fletcher Prince was the first public relations agency in the Washington, DC area to offer sessions for Social Media Week DC, which was presented in mid-February.  We presented three seminars in Falls Church to standing room only audiences and streamed the sessions live on Livestream.  We are grateful to the participants we invited to add their expertise to the sessions, including communicators from the World Bank and the U.S. Army.   Mary’s presentations on YouTube video, blogging, and using an editorial calendar can be viewed on Fletcher Prince’s account on Slideshare.

Speaking Engagements

Mary also presented sessions on effective social media marketing and YouTube video outreach to the nonprofit organization, the U.S. Hospice Regatta Alliance.  She presented an introductory session on blogging to George Mason University communications students.  She also appeared at the Government Video Expo, where she spoke about practical approaches to social media measurement, as well as techniques for engaging audiences through social media outreach.

Network-and-Lunch Events

We tried something new this year: we organized monthly networking lunches all over the Washington, DC area.  We met at places such as Jaleo in Bethesda, Teaism in DC, and RT’s in Alexandria, among other restaurants.  It was fun getting to know our Facebook and Twitter followers better.

Social Media Survival Guide

We also produced the 2012 Fletcher Prince Social Media Survival Guide and distributed 2,000 copies at events such as the Washington Business Journal Book of Lists celebration, Social Media Week DC, college fairs, and the monthly lunches.

Fletcher Prince Marketing Efforts in 2012

We continue to be grateful to our supporters.  This year, we added a Pinterest Page and updated our LinkedIn Business Page to the new format.  Our Facebook Page Likes increased from 118 to 143.  Our Fletcher Prince Twitter followers rose from 240 to 600.

This year, we added 10 YouTube videos to our Fletcher Prince YouTube Channel, including a series of videos highlighting our capabilities and a third client testimonial video.   We are grateful to our subscribers, and added 27 to our followers this year, and an additional 4,000+ views.

The Fletcher Prince Blog is a big part of how we share our expertise and showcase our work, and our blog views almost doubled in 2012.  Consistent blogging pays off in increased views.

Looking Back at 2011 – The Fletcher Prince Annual Report

Fletcher Prince celebrates its fourth full year of success in business in a challenging economy.  2011 was a year of delivering marketing and public relations services to clients and contractors, punctuated with community involvement and recognition.

Here’s what we accomplished in 2011…

Client Work in 2011

Graphic design, website design, social media development, and media relations were big project areas for us this year.

We worked with our existing clients Dominion Mechanical Dirigo, PRofessional Solutions, and Keenan PR.  We were also delighted to work with new clients H-D Systems, Reising Communications and Remey Communications.

As was true last year, David and I worked on many subcontracted projects in 2011.  We were  gratified to be brought on as consultants and partners on fixed fee and hourly projects for clients Rockville Science Center, International Parking Institute, CHS, GuideStar, Deloitte Touche, and CSC.  We would like to thank our colleagues for  hiring us to work in partnership with them, and welcome more subcontracting opportunities like this in 2012.

Community Involvement and Service

As a service to the Washington, DC area professional communications community, Fletcher Prince continues to produce videos for the YouTube seriesConversations in Public Relations,” featuring interviews with local communicators and association leaders.  We produced 11 additional videos in 2011.  The 110 videos have received more than 42,450 views on YouTube. Our guests this year included independent public relations practictioners Robert Udowitz, Amanda Miller Littlejohn, Vicki Robb, and Jeff Ghannam.

As a side project, Mary created a new “Living Well With Autism” website for parents in April for Autism Awareness Month.

David and I continued to support area communications groups with professional memberships in the Public Relations Society of America, DC Ad Club, and Washington Women in Public Relations.

Fletcher Prince Facebook Page “Likes” Increase 55%

We continue to be grateful to our supporters.  Our Facebook Page Likes increased from 76 to 118.  Most of our Facebook Page Likes (70%) are comprised of people we don’t know at all or don’t know very well, so our content must be drawing people to the Page.

Mary’s Twitter followers rose from 900 to 1160+, while we created a new, separate Twitter account for Fletcher Prince tweets this year, with 240+ followers.

Fletcher Prince in Top Ten On YouTube for PR and Advertising Firms

This year, we added 17 YouTube videos to our Fletcher Prince YouTube Channel.  We continue to produce informative videos highlighting our subject matter expertise.  We have more than 100 subscribers (42 coming on this year) and our Fletcher Prince YouTube videos have more than 62,000 views — 21,000 of those achieved this year.  This ranks Fletcher Prince in the top 10 for video views among public relations and advertising firms on YouTube  for our Fletcher Prince videos alone.

Important to note: 73% of our views result from YouTube recommending and featuring our videos (two separate actions), as well as from YouTube search, while only 1.3% of the traffic originates from our Fletcher Prince Channel.  I hope this illustrates the importance of using keywords in the title, tags, and descriptions of your organization’s YouTube videos.  Searchability really matters on YouTube.

Fletcher Prince Blog Views Increase 60%

The Fletcher Prince Blog is a big part of how we share our expertise and showcase our work, and our blog views increased by 62% in 2011.  In 2010, our blog got 11,691 views and this year our blog was viewed more than 19,000 times.  On average, we got 52 views a day in 2011; in 2010 we got 32 views a day.

We also learned that 66% of our blog traffic comes from search engines, 18% of our readers find us through Twitter, and 16% of our views are from Facebook.

Fletcher Prince Ranked in Top 25 Area Public Relations Firms, By Income

In December, we received the exciting news that Fletcher Prince was listed on the 25 Public Relations Agencies (ranked by 2010 metro-area public relations income) in the Washington Business Journal (December 9, 2011 issue), as well as in the Washington Business Journal Book of Lists.

We are thrilled!  Mary and David will be attending the Book of Lists Celebration on January 26, 2012, and look forward to seeing our friends and colleagues at recognition and networking events in 2012.

2011 Speaking Engagements

We were involved in a significant (for us) number of speaking engagements.  It was a team effort.  Although Mary did the presenting, David helped prepare and design the presentations.  They included

  • Marketing with YouTube to a group of consultants in February.
  • Getting Started with Social Media to UNCF Young Entrepreneurs in April and George Mason University Communications  in September.
  • How To Get More YouTube Views at the Digital East conference in September.

Write an informal annual report for your business this year

Publicly traded companies and nonprofit organizations write and distribute annual reports to stakeholders and interested parties, but those are not the kinds I am talking about here.

I’m talking about an informal annual report for you — or your business.  It could be a blog post or an internal document.  It’s simply a chronicle of achievements and activities from the past year.  It can be a document you either develop on your own, or in conjunction with your partners and staff.  This “annual report” is a tool for looking at how far you have come, and for deciding what goals to set in the future.

Do you take the time to do that now?  If not, why not try it this year?  Your effort does not have to be elaborate.   I have written an “annual report” and published them on this blog every year that I have been in business.  The 2011 report will be published next week.  It’s my way of celebrating the progress of my company, and being transparent about our business operations.  Also, all year long, I know I am going to write this annual report.  So I am very good at taking pictures and documenting our successes throughout the year.

How to Write Your “Annual Report”

There is no right or wrong way to write your company annual report for the purposes I am talking about.  The only wrong way would be not to write and save anything at all.  It really is fun and a feel-good activity.  Here is how I do it.

Client Work

I review the past year’s projects and billings.  I look for patterns, then I report on our business activities.  I talk about the kinds of projects we worked on, and I mention current and new clients.

Acknowledgements and Thanks

The “annual report” is a perfect way to say thank you to all the people who keep your business going: from employees to partners, from vendors to referrers.  And don’t forget to thank your clients, of course!  We also thank our supporters in social media — including our blog subscribers, video viewers, Facebook friends, and Twitter followers.  Expressing gratitude should be a regular part of your marketing outreach and business operations.

Pro Bono Work, Donations, Mentoring, Community Service, Committee Work, and Corporate Volunteerism

You will probably be surprised, as I am each year, at how much you contribute to your profession and your community.  Document that service!  It’s important.

Professional Affiliations and Development

Staying connected and current is good business hygiene.  Those benefits trickle down to our clients.  So we make a point of identifying how we kept our skills sharp and networked.

Speaking Engagements, Recognition, and Awards

Crow a little bit at the end of the year.  I do!  You’re entitled!  All year long, I know I am going to mention recognition and speaking engagements in my annual report, and it keeps me motivated to make my best effort.

Add whatever feels right to you.  And if you can publish it, so much the better!  It keeps you accountable for making your best effort.  Good luck, and let me know if you decide to try it this year.

As we bid farewell to 2010, let’s take a look at what Fletcher Prince accomplished this year.  For a tiny marketing communications company of two people, we sure do manage to keep busy!  Thank you for watching our light-hearted retrospective video, and check out this report on our year’s activities.

We worked hard this year, and our clients saw results.  Social media development and video production continued to be strong earning areas for Fletcher Prince.

YouTube Video. We created 9 new YouTube Channels for clients in 2010, to result in a total of 16 Channels total on YouTube.  Our 250 YouTube videos have more than 140,000 views (not counting additional iTunes podcast views and Facebook views).  Our most popular video is a Fletcher Prince production on graphic design with more than 20,000 views.

Blogs, and more blogs. We administer 10 blogs and have coached clients on the development of several others.  The blogs we write for have more than 35,000 views, not counting Examiner.com articles and Facebook feeds.

Fletcher Prince Facebook PageFacebook. We have created more than 16 Facebook Pages for clients and ourselves, and have coached others on their Facebook Page development efforts.  The Facebook Pages we have created include businesses involved in real estate, restaurants, and professional services, as well as nonprofits.

Twitter. We continue to develop customized Twitter profiles and coach managers on how to use Twitter effectively.  There are more than a dozen customized Twitter profiles in our portfolio.

Happy clients. In 2010, we earned 7 more LinkedIn testimonials, bringing the total number of LinkedIn testimonials for our work to 26.  Here’s just one of them…

In 2010, we worked on a variety of exciting marketing projects with our beloved existing clients Rink Strategic Communications, Dominion Mechanical, and Fall Properties.  Projects included everything from media relations to email newsletters, from website design to YouTube video production, and more.

We were also delighted to work with new clients Cosmopolitan Photography, Keenan PR, The Hannon Group, ASQ Communications, and PRofessional Solutions.

David and I were especially gratified to be brought on as partners on amazing projects on a subcontracted basis, including work for Timberline Bank, Howard University, NeighborWorks America, and Deloitte Touche.  We would like to thank our colleagues for their faith in us, and welcome more opportunities like this in 2011.

At Fletcher Prince, we continue to complete pro bono projects on behalf of communications organizations.

DC Ad Club. We joined the ADDYs planning committee and provided public relations consultation for that effort in 2010, including

  • Developing a public relations and social media content development plan.
  • Writing and pitching a media release announcing the call for entries.
  • Creating a new DC Ad Club blog.
  • Producing nine YouTube videos.

Conversations in Public Relations Blog and YouTube Videos. As a service to the Washington, DC area professional communications community, Fletcher Prince continues to produce videos for the YouTube seriesConversations in Public Relations,” featuring interviews with local communicators and association leaders.  We produced 20 additional videos in 2010, bringing the total to more than 100 videos.

Washington Women in Public Relations. Fletcher Prince donated a video makeup kit to the benefit raffle for the Washington PR Woman of the Year event.  In addition, the lucky winner won complimentary YouTube consultation and video recording services.  Marilynn Deane Mendell won the prize, and we set up a Channel and new videos for her company, WinSpinCIC.

We continue to be grateful to our supporters.  Our Facebook Fans topped 76 this year, and our Twitter followers climbed to 900.

This year, we produced 18 YouTube videos for Fletcher Prince.  While we continued to produce informative videos highlighting our subject matter expertise (Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube tips), we also experimented with fun promotional videos and event reports.

We also created three brochures for our business, and exhibited at the Virginia Film Office State of the Industry event.

In other Fletcher Prince news this year…

    Mary served as one of the judges for a public relations competition for a national trade association.

  • We organized a mini-golf tournament for area communicators.
  • As a special thank you, we offered our clients complimentary holiday greeting videos, one of which was featured in the Capitol Communicator.
  • Mary group-trained five communicators on the basics of social media.
  • Mary presented a talk at a TIVA-DC meeting on using social media.
  • Mary presented a workshop on blogging at the Government Video Expo.

Summer has been busy! Client news round-up from Fletcher Prince

It’s been a busy summer!  Here’s a quick wrap-up of what’s been going on with Fletcher Prince lately…

  • David and I were hired by Keenan PR for social media consultation and to create a Facebook Page for Timberline Bank, a community bank in Colorado. It has been a pleasure working closely with Heathere Evans-Keenan on this project.  How exciting it would be to go to Colorado and record some video (hint, hint)!  We are not new to subcontracting, by the way.  Just this spring, we completed a Facebook Page and some videos for Howard University, working with wonderful Sandra Hannon of The Hannon Group.  David was also the graphic designer “of record” for Fenton Communications for years.  We routinely work with corporate communications departments who outsource their work to us.   We love to subcontract — and our rates are mark-up friendly — so don’t hesitate to ask about these kind of arrangements.
  • Meanwhile, David is resuming his quarterly gig with Deloitte Touche, which should wrap up in a couple of weeks.  It’s top-secret-clearance-level federal government work and we can’t talk about it 🙂 but it involves intensive amounts of graphic design for publications for congressional use.
  • We launched an email newsletter campaign for local Realtor Fall Properties.  These are fun newsletters to read and you might want to check them out, even if you’re not in the market for a house.  They are getting open rates that far exceed the industry norm.  The next one is going to feature the “best of the beach.”  We’re continuing to work on their social media, as well.  Their Facebook Page has really taken off in the past few months, with lots of new fans.  Not to mention, YouTube video…  Fall Properties is super-busy now, which is unusual this time of year in the real estate industry.  It feels so good to be part of their success.
  • We created a new website for Dominion Mechanical, a mechanical construction firm, a long-time client of David’s.  We also created a suite of social media sites for the company (including YouTube, Facebook Page, Twitter account, etc.).  Now we’re working on their brochure and some advertising.  Our contacts at Dominion said they have already received several positive comments about the website 🙂
  • I spent some time updating Susan Rink of Rink Strategic Communications on the stats of her social media efforts, which are going very well since we helped her create those branded sites about a year ago (YouTube, podcast, blog, Facebook Page, etc.) We’re looking forward to creating more YouTube videos with Susan this August.  Susan told me today she is so busy with her consulting business that she hasn’t had a day off in weeks, so we certainly hope that our marketing efforts for her had a little something to do with that!
  • We’re helping a new client jump in the social media pool — The Waterfront Cafe in Hilton Head, SC.  We’ve just launched their new blog, Facebook Page, Twitter account, Flickr site, and YouTube channel.  We’re also helping them manage their online profiles on critical review sites, including Yelp and TripAdvisor.  It’s so gratifying to see them embrace Twitter, Facebook, and blogging!  Next phase of the project (you guessed it!): YouTube video!
  • On the “community service” side, we recorded and edited several new Conversations in Public Relations videos (our interviews with thought leaders in the Washington, DC metropolitan area communications field), including interviews with the leaders of the local chapter of the American Marketing Association. We still have a few to work on and put online.  That makes 99 of these videos currently on our YouTube site  — that we have produced entirely at our own expense.  Before the summer is over, I look forward to hosting a free social media diagnostic and training clinic for small business owners and nonprofit managers.  Let me know if you are interested in more information about that.

Fletcher Prince 2009 Annual Report

As 2009 draws to a close, I would like to report on the activities of our small marketing communications company, Fletcher Prince.  Fletcher Prince, as you may know, is managed by David Hyson and Mary Fletcher Jones, and provides creative and affordable marketing solutions to small businesses and nonprofit organizations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and beyond.  Our services include website design, graphic design, photography, video, social media and marketing consultation, public relations, and email marketing.

Rink Strategic Communications. Fletcher Prince produced an online video series and podcast for Rink Strategic Communications.  Working with Susan Rink, we also helped her launch her company blog, email newsletter, Facebook Page, YouTube channel, and Twitter account.  It has been a pleasure working with Susan, and we look forward to producing six more videos with her in 2010.

PrimeTime Staffing. Fletcher Prince produced a corporate marketing kit for their existing client, Doris McGhee of PrimeTime Staffing, including a custom-designed pocket folder and inserts.

Fall Properties. Fletcher Prince was retained by the residential real estate firm Fall Properties to deliver social media marketing consultation and email marketing training, an effort that will continue into 2010.

Fletcher Prince Pro Bono Work in 2009

Fletcher Prince completed numerous pro bono projects on behalf of communications organizations.

Social Media for PRSA-NCC. For the first half of 2009, Mary served as Marketing and Public Relations Committee Co-Chair for the National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, coordinating the chapter’s social media efforts.  She also created a social media policy for the chapter.  Fletcher Prince re-designed the chapter’s Twitter account to be brand-identifiable, and designed and launched a blog for the chapter.  Mary continues to moderate the blog and train chapter staff on how to write blog posts.  In addition to the blog design, David designed a social media-friendly version of the chapter logo for use on the chapter’s accounts on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and WordPress.  Mary was commissioned by the chapter to produce a video featuring several chapter and board committee members on the value of public relations, a pro bono project. The video was shown at the chapter’s Thoth Awards gala and at the PRSA conference in San Diego, CA.

Meeting Coordination for DC Podcasters Alliance. Mary served as Assistant Organizer for the DC Podcasters Alliance through June, and planned meetings and made presentations on topics related to podcasting.

Conversations in Public Relations Blog and YouTube Videos. As a service to the Washington, DC area professional communications community, Fletcher Prince produced an online video series and podcast, “Conversations in Public Relations,” featuring interviews with local communicators and association leaders.  We produced more than 80 videos on a variety of public relations and advertising topics.

World Water Center YouTube Channel and Videos. Fletcher Prince produced five videos and designed a YouTube channel, pro bono, for the World Water Center, a nonprofit organization.

Our promotional work for our company involves presenting informative content about creative and affordable marketing strategies.

Fletcher Prince YouTube Videos. This year, we produced six informative, how-to YouTube videos that describe various ways of using social media to promote and market a small business or nonprofit organization, including blogging, Twitter, online video, online press rooms, and other topics.

Fletcher Prince Blog. We moved our blog from the WordPress.org platform to the WordPress.com platform.  We lost a couple of years of posts, but the change was worthwhile for the SEO benefits.  We blogged three times a week, on average.

Examiner.com Mary has been writing as the DC Social Media Examiner and the DC Marketing and Public Relations Examiner this year, covering industry-related events and news.

In other 2009 Fletcher Prince news…

  • Mary and David received 18 LinkedIn recommendations for their work in 2009.
  • Mary was interviewed by Paul Vogelzang and Limor Schafman for Capitol Communicator’s video series featuring local thought leaders in communications.
  • David was retained by Deloitte Touche and Florida Education Association to provide graphic design services.
  • Fletcher Prince was registered in the Federal Government contract services system.

Fletcher Prince 2008 annual report

cup cakeAs I was pondering my new year’s resolutions for 2009, I located a copy of the resolutions I wrote exactly one year ago.  I made an extensive list of what I had hoped to acheive for 2008.  I am happy to say I achieved nearly all of my goals (except for losing weight!).  But what really astounded me was realizing all that has happened in 2008  — all the things that I couldn’t begin to foresee on that evening of December 31, 2007.

I suppose when you are in the thick of things, you may not appreciate just how far you have come.  And, I don’t typically think of myself as someone who is a big achiever kind of person. But this year, I really feel kind of proud of myself.  For me, 2008 was an amazing year.  Only that pride is tempered with humility, because none of this would have been possible without the tremendous vision, support, and hard work of my wonderful business partner, David Hyson.  So much of what I achieved happened with the assistance of Fletcher Prince’s terrific interns (now staff) and all the fantastic friends I have met this year.  And even my ten-year-old son with autism, who in his way, helps when he keeps me company at his desk in my home office, and who just tries so hard every day and is so good natured about it, that he is an inspiration to me.
So, just to recap 2008 (whew! are you ready for this?)

Last year on this date, I resolved to join a professional organization and network with professionals in my field. Gulp! In one year,

  • I joined five professional organizations
  • Served on board committees of three organizations
  • Helped plan an awards event attended by 225 people

Last year on this date, I resolved to get business cards and hoped to obtain some freelance work.  I took that goal a little bit farther, too. This year, I

  • Incorporated Fletcher Prince as an LLC
  • Was featured twice in The Washington Business Journal
  • Launched a company website and YouTube video series
  • Was featured as PRSA-NCC member of the month
  • Published an email monthly newsletter, which now has more than 100 subscribers, and wrote blog posts no less than three times a week for our blog
  • Became a corporate sponsor
  • Gave four presentations on email marketing, social media, and blogging
  • Scored four paying clients (websites, email marketing, and advertising projects)
  • Serviced two pro bono clients
  • Hired six interns, who now work for me as staff and contractors
  • Held a summer company open house and a holiday company open house

Wow! And on top of that, I took ballroom dancing and ice skating lessons. )
A year ago, I was dreaming about this stuff and going to workshops, not even imagining I would one day really have my own business.  This year, I was doing it.  It has all been so exciting and slightly overwhelming.  So I will still continue to work on my professional goals, as well as my personal ones, which include looking through a telescope at stars (can you believe I never have?).
